Material Planner
LOCATION: Hingham, Norfolk (NR9) – Office based role

HOURS: Full time/permanent - 37 hours per week (Mon – Thurs: 8hrs/ Fri: 5 hrs – finish early)
About the role
As our Material Planner, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the right materials are available at the right time to support our dynamic production schedule. You’ll work closely with our procurement, production, and logistics teams to maintain optimal inventory levels, support on-time delivery, and help us meet customer expectations.
As a key member of the team, you’ll play an integral role in supporting Mirus’ continued growth. This position offers the autonomy to take full ownership of your responsibilities acting as a crucial link between Mirus and our suppliers, proactively identifying and communicating any supply risks across the business to ensure transparency and quick resolution.
In addition, you’ll manage inventory levels for raw materials and oversee the MRP system to ensure parts are available in line with business needs, contributing directly to the smooth operation of our production and supply chain functions.
In your role as our Material Planner, you will:
- Effectively utilise the ERP/MRP system to procure raw materials in a timely and efficient manner, carefully balancing supply risk, lead times, optimal order quantities, and appropriate batch sizes to meet production demands—while avoiding unnecessary cash outlay on slow-moving inventory.
- Raise, manage, and execute schedules, ensuring supplier delivery commitments are met. You will maintain accurate data in the ERP system to improve and uphold OTIF (On Time in Full) performance.
- Proactively expedite material supply, obtain confirmed delivery dates from suppliers, and ensure the system is consistently updated to reflect real-time information.
- Support the development and maintenance of a dynamic stock control process that meets internal build requirements while protecting the business from overstocking.
- Monitor and manage supplier capacity, identifying potential supply risks early and taking proactive steps to resolve them before they impact operations.
- Communicate confidently and independently with suppliers, using a solution-focused approach to secure delivery commitments and resolve issues efficiently.
About you
To support Mirus on our continued growth journey, you will bring your administrative and operational expertise within a Supply Chain or Procurement environment, a proactive approach to completing tasks efficiently, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide reliable, high-quality support—along with the following skills, experience, qualifications, and attributes:
- A Levels or equivalent.
- Experience in purchasing, supply chain, materials control, logistics or expediting.
- Experience working within either a manufacturing or engineering industry.
- Experience of operating within both a development and a serial production environment.
- Strong analytical understanding of business ERP and MRP ordering systems.
Desirable:
- CIPS or equivalent professional qualification
- Experience of operating within aerospace and/or automotive industries
- Experience of working with suppliers based in Asia
- Understanding of Logistics and Incoterms
- Able to contribute to planning meetings across the wider business to ensure Supply Chain are embedded in this process
- Experience of working with Microsoft Dynamics BC ERP systems is preferred although training will be given as required

- Demonstratable strong attention to detail – able to use data to inform decisions and constructively challenge colleagues
