Quality Inspector
Location: Hingham, Norfolk (NR9) – Office based role

Hours: Full time/permanent - 37 hrs-Standard shift: Monday-Thursday 8am - 4:30pm, Friday 8am - 1:00pm. Banked hours for additional hours worked during busy times.
About the role
Our Quality Inspector is an integral member of our dynamic quality team. This role is vital for ensuring the quality of incoming materials, parts, manufactured products and end-of-line Quality Inspections. It involves verifying compliance with internal standards, customer specifications, third-party requirements, and regulatory guidelines through thorough documentation checks, physical inspections, precise measurements, and meticulous record-keeping activities.
In new programme activities, you will support prototype builds as well as the production launch and ramp to full production.
In your role as our Quality Inspector, you will:
- Conduct inspections, including visual inspections and precise measurements, of all incoming materials and parts to ensure they meet the required specifications and quality standards.
- Ensure that all components and tooling are manufactured to exacting standards.
- Verify accompanying documentation, such as delivery notes and certificates of conformity, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Identify, contain and document any non-conformances or defects in the incoming goods and communicate these issues to the relevant departments.
- Track and aid in the resolution of internal and external non-conformance reports (NCR’s).
- Generate and maintain accurate records of inspections and test results, which are essential for quality control and traceability.
- Manage the calibration database and organize recalls.
- Ensure all documentation and calibration of equipment is current and correct.
- Coordinate and prioritize Metrology resources based on the business needs.
- Help in the development of the cosmetic inspection criteria for parts and assemblies.
- Provide assistance with technical disputes with department managers and operators.
- Work closely with other departments, such as production and supply, to resolve any issues related to incoming goods.
- Help in identifying continuous improvement techniques to aid in achieving both department and business objectives.
- Learn and assist with continuous improvement techniques to aid in achieving department objectives.
- Ensure that companywide policies and procedures are adhered to wherever and whenever appropriate.
- Maintain a clean and tidy working environment, working within the department’s COSHH guidelines and ensuring that all relevant Health and Safety requirements are met.
About you
To help Mirus continue our journey of growth, you will bring your expertise within Quality, a passion for problem solving and drive for operational excellence along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
- 5 GCSE’s inc English language & Mathematics.
- Diploma/ Certificate Engineering/ or Quality
- Experience of using CNC CMM’s (PC-DMIS), QA systems, and handheld measuring equipment
- Experience and knowledge of composites and mechanical component manufacturing and processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models to extract relevant engineering and inspection data
- Able to use a wide variety of hand held measuring equipment
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods, quality system design and documentation
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 4 or higher
- Knowledge of aerospace AS9100/ ISO9001 requirements
- Experience of working in an inspection role in a similar manufacturing environment.
- Experience and knowledge of UK CAA Pt 21G Production Organisation requirements
- Experience of working with an ERP System
- Experience and knowledge of document requirements and quality accreditation within the aerospace industry
- Show an understanding of customer requirements through compliance with purchase order, drawing and design specification
